Lunch

For lunch, I couldn’t resist the allure of fresh seafood, and I opted for a seafood platter at a local trattoria.

The plate was a masterpiece of flavors, featuring succulent shrimp, tender calamari, and perfectly cooked fish, all drizzled with a zesty lemon and olive oil dressing.

The gelato was so rich and velvety that it melted in my mouth, providing a delightful respite from the warm Italian sun.

Drinking an Aperol Spritz

As the day transitioned into evening, I decided to unwind at a beachfront café with a glass of Aperol Spritz.

The iconic Italian aperitif was a refreshing blend of Aperol, Prosecco, and a splash of soda, garnished with a slice of orange.

Sipping the Aperol Spritz while watching the sunset over Vernazza’s enchanting harbor was a truly magical experience.

Dinner experience

For dinner, I ventured to a cozy ristorante nestled in the heart of the village.

I started with a bruschetta appetizer, featuring toasted bread topped with ripe tomatoes, fresh basil, and a drizzle of olive oil.

It was a simple yet mouthwatering introduction to my main course.

For the main dish, I couldn’t resist trying a traditional Ligurian pasta dish known as trofie al pesto.

Trofie pasta, hand-rolled and twisted, was coated in a vibrant green basil pesto sauce that was bursting with flavor.

The dish was garnished with pine nuts and grated Parmesan cheese, adding depth to every bite.

Dessert

To conclude this exquisite meal, I enjoyed a slice of tiramisu for dessert.

The creamy layers of mascarpone cheese, espresso-soaked ladyfingers, and a dusting of cocoa created a heavenly dessert that was the perfect ending to a day filled with culinary delights.

How I got to Vernazza

Getting to Vernazza was an adventure in itself, and it was a journey filled with stunning scenery and anticipation. Here’s how I got to Vernazza:

I started my journey from a nearby town in the Cinque Terre region, and the most convenient way to reach Vernazza was by train.

The Cinque Terre Express train service connects all five picturesque villages of Cinque Terre, making it an efficient and scenic mode of transportation.

As I boarded the train, I couldn’t help but be excited about the incredible views that awaited me.

The railway winds along the rugged coastline, offering glimpses of the Mediterranean Sea on one side and the lush hillsides on the other.

The train journey itself felt like a breathtaking adventure, with each twist and turn revealing a new vista.

The train made a brief stop at each of the other four Cinque Terre villages—Monterosso al Mare, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore—before finally arriving at Vernazza train station.

You can also take the regional train from La Spezia or Levante and travel along the Ligurian coast.

Each stop provided a tantalizing taste of the beauty that Cinque Terre has to offer.

Upon stepping off the train at Vernazza’s charming station, I was immediately greeted by the village’s unique atmosphere.

The colorful buildings, nestled against the cliffs, created a captivating first impression. It was as if I had entered a postcard-worthy destination.

The journey to Vernazza was not just about reaching a destination; it was an integral part of the experience.

The train ride allowed me to savor the coastal beauty of Cinque Terre even before setting foot in Vernazza itself.

Afterwards, it was a perfect introduction to a day filled with exploration and discovery in this enchanting Italian village.
